Meet our Osteopath

Laura Bashford

Laura is an osteopath who takes a holistic approach to health and wellbeing, helping her clients move and feel their best. With experience in both osteopathic treatment and Pilates, she is passionate about combining hands-on therapy with movement-based rehabilitation to support long-term health outcomes.

Laura has a strong background in strength and conditioning, having worked extensively with professional and pre-professional female athletes in AFLW and soccer. Through this experience, she developed a keen interest in athletic development, rehabilitation, and injury prevention. She has worked closely with athletes at the Western Bulldogs AFLW team, delivering Mat and Reformer Pilates sessions aimed at improving strength, mobility, and recovery.

Beyond sports rehabilitation, Laura has a particular passion for supporting individuals with hypermobility spectrum disorders, autoimmune conditions, and women’s health concerns. During her clinical training, she treated a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, with a focus on shoulder and lower back pain, and is eager to further her expertise through postgraduate studies in women’s health.

Laura’s approach to care emphasises education, empowerment, and collaboration. She believes in building strong relationships with her clients to help them feel confident in their treatment and recovery journey. Whether working with athletes or individuals managing chronic conditions, she prioritises creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where clients can achieve their movement and wellbeing goals.

Outside of work, Laura enjoys staying active, continuing her own Pilates practice, and contributing to the community through education on movement, recovery, and performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Osteopathy is a holistic healthcare approach that focuses on the body's interconnected systems to restore movement, reduce pain, and enhance overall well-being. Our osteopathic care is tailored to your individual needs, using hands-on techniques such as joint mobilization, soft tissue therapy, and movement-based rehabilitation. By addressing the root cause of dysfunction rather than just the symptoms, osteopathy supports long-term health, helping you move and feel better in your daily life.

  • While both osteopathy and physiotherapy aim to improve movement and reduce pain, their approaches differ. Osteopathy takes a whole-body perspective, focusing on how the musculoskeletal, nervous, and circulatory systems work together, often using hands-on techniques to restore balance. Physiotherapy, on the other hand, often emphasises targeted rehabilitation through exercise and movement therapy. Both are effective, and the right choice depends on your needs, preferences and the clinician.

  • Our consultations are conducted in-person in our beautiful rooms at our Aberfeldie location. We now have two offices within a short walking distance of each other and physiotherapy is conducted at the 355 Buckley Street office.
