Frequently Ask Questions

  • Reformer Flow Pilates is a type of Pilates exercise that is performed on a Pilates reformer machine. The reformer is a specialized piece of equipment with a moving carriage that is attached to a set of springs, ropes, and pulleys. The machine provides resistance and support for the exercises and allows for a wide range of movements to be performed.

Reformer Flow Pilates involves a series of exercises that flow smoothly from one to the next, with an emphasis on controlled, precise movements and alignment. It is designed to improve strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination, as well as promote a mind-body connection.

Our Reformer Flow Pilates Essendon classes are taught by certified instructors with extensive knowledge and experience in Pilates training. Our instructors will guide participants through a series of exercises that may include movements such as lunges, squats, planks, and leg circles, among others. The resistance provided by the springs and other equipment can be adjusted to suit individual needs and abilities, making it a suitable workout for both beginners and advanced practitioners.

Overall, Reformer Flow Pilates is a challenging yet low-impact workout that can help improve overall fitness, posture, and body awareness.

  • Wear comfortable, form-fitting activewear that allows you to move freely—like leggings, bike shorts, or a fitted tank. Avoid loose or baggy clothing as it can get in the way of the Reformer machine and obscure alignment. Grip socks are optional and can help provide traction on the Reformer.

Bring a water bottle. Mats are not required, as all movement is done on the Reformer bed. If it’s your first class, arrive a few minutes early so the instructor can help set you up on the machine.

  • No prior experience is necessary. This class is perfect if you're wondering how to start Reformer Pilates and want to learn proper form and technique safely.

  • As Reformer Pilates classes are performed on reformer machines, these classes differ from other forms of exercise that may use free weights or bodyweight exercises for resistance.

The use of the reformer machine in Reformer Pilates allows for a wider range of movements and more precise control over the resistance and tension, leading to a more targeted and effective workout.
